A wall mural is the fastest way to turn a plain bedroom into a world your child loves waking up to — and putting one up is far easier than it looks. This step-by-step guide walks you through measuring your wall, choosing the right paper, and hanging your mural for a smooth, bubble-free finish.

Step 1 — Measure your wall

Every Kids-Mundo mural is printed made-to-measure, so accurate measurements matter most. Measure the width and height of your wall in centimetres at the widest and tallest points. Then add a small safety margin of 5–10 cm on each dimension — it's always better to trim a little excess than to come up short. Write the two numbers down; you'll enter them when you design your mural.

Step 2 — Choose your wallpaper

We offer two finishes, and the right one depends on your wall and how permanent you want it:

  • Premium Wallpaper — a matte, tear-resistant finish applied with wallpaper paste. Ideal for a long-lasting, high-quality look on smooth walls.
  • Peel & Stick Wallpaper — self-adhesive and repositionable, perfect for rentals, nurseries, and quick makeovers with no paste required.

Step 3 — Prepare the wall

Wipe the wall clean and let it dry fully. Fill any holes, sand bumps smooth, and remove switch plates where you can. A clean, even surface is the secret to a flawless result.

Step 4 — Hang the panels

Your mural arrives in numbered panels. Start from the top-left, line up the first panel using a spirit level, and work across. Overlap or butt-join each panel following the guide, smoothing as you go with a soft brush or plastic smoother — always from the centre outwards to push out air bubbles.

Step 5 — Trim & finish

Once every panel is up and smooth, run a sharp craft knife along the skirting, ceiling and edges to trim the excess for a crisp, tailored finish. Refit your switch plates and step back to enjoy the transformation.

Quick tips for a perfect finish

  • Work with a partner — an extra pair of hands makes aligning panels much easier.
  • Keep a damp cloth handy to wipe away any paste before it dries.
  • Let the room sit at normal temperature for a day before and after hanging.
